A Truth About Meal Prepping:

The Benefits and Convenience of Having Prepared and Healthy Meals Available

Article written and submitted by Austin Evans

Most millennials, nowadays, are more conscious of their eating habits and staying healthy is more of a priority than it used to be for people who were born in earlier times. Even older people are starting to watch their food intake in hopes of living a longer life.

But truth is, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be both expensive and tedious. Fortunately, there are different companies who can help you save you time and money by providing you with healthy, prepared meals that are delicious. Most are now specializing in chef driven meals that are made from scratch, packed with protein and have the nutrition facts and ingredients listed on the label, so you know exactly what you’re putting in your body.

Truth is: Life is hectic! Between work, kids, keeping the house together, and life activities, it is hard to find time for anything, much less preparing your meals for the week. That’s where meal prep comes in; and since what you’re putting in your body is the most important part of achieving your goals, it is convenient to have your meals and portions prepared for you versus traditional fast food restaurants.

With a meal prep company, you are avoiding the hassle and time invested into grocery shopping, preparing and cooking meals and the cleanup. You can simply walk into a place, grab as few or as many meals as you wish, then go about your day knowing that you're eating something that is all-natural, not full of preservatives or sugars.

There are many benefits from choosing a healthy, prepared meal; probably the most obvious being portion control. In the world we live in today, a typical fast food meal is upwards of 1,205 calories*.
Even more concerning, most people have no idea how many calories they're consuming, often under estimating their calorie intake by as much as 259 calories **. This is a major factor contributing to a major killer: Obesity.

An average meal prep meal be around the 400-calorie mark. Not only is this providing a healthy portion to people, but we hope it is teaching the consumer how they should be eating.

The most important aspect of achieving your fitness goals is your nutrition. Many experts say that nutrition is as much as 80-90% of what goes into reaching your goal. Whether you are trying to lose fat, gain muscle or just maintain a healthy lifestyle, being prepared beforehand with your meals is the best thing you can do to set yourself up for success. As the old saying goes, "by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”

By meal prepping yourself or consuming prepared meals, you will be training yourself to what a healthy portion is, the difference between macronutrients (carbs/protein/fats), and when is the best time to consume certain nutrients for your body. In your meal prep portion, you should find a good balance of lean proteins, fibrous vegetables, and complex carbohydrates. While some meals do vary, typically meals should use 5-6oz of protein, one half cup of a complex carb, and a cup of vegetables. Taking a look at meal prep company menus can help you identify ideas for meal prepping on your own.

Research shows that 90% of people do not like to cook***. If this is you, find a meal prep company nearby to help you be prepared and stay on track!

Whether your meal prepping already, eat healthy daily or don't, the quality of the food you choose to eat is everything. Quite frankly, the first reason is because higher quality ingredients and cooking processes will result in better tasting meals; and if you're enjoying the food you're eating, you're going to stick to it. Secondly, quality is everything. The reason many people associate unhealthy food with being cheap is because this unhealthy food is usually full of preservatives, is often pre-frozen and contains way too many calories.

Here’s how it works: You usually select a location, or meal prep place (which can be done online). You, then, pick out your favorite meals. Choose however many meals you need with a minimum monetary order. The company then does the cooking and delivers your meals to your doorstep/work/etc., or makes your meals available for pickup at a stated location. You simply heat & enjoy!

Also, a recurring option: Stay on track with a weekly delivery of healthy meals. Mix and match your favorite meals with the option to change your meals weekly. Pause, edit, or cancel your plan anytime. This is the best way to stay committed.

Some people, who are dedicated to the proper meal prep regimen, are even able to come off their diabetes and blood pressure medicine that they may have been on their entire life. Impacting somebody’s life in this way should be a priority that you select.
